Via Yahoo Messenger, June 10th:
Em: Hey - we need to food blog again. I am seriously gaining weight -
Vic: Okay--so what did you eat/do today??
Em: OH, my. Do? Rose from the bed at 9, got everybody dressed, drove through NuWay and had a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit and SMALL sweet tea. Dropped the kids at mom's, ate a few slices of bacon, then went to work for 4 hours (on a SATURDAY!), where I munched on a bottle of Dasani with that Crystal light stuff added to it, a Sprite and part of a cup of Jif. (Peanut butter on a spoon - yum!)
Em: Met BD at about 3:30 at a buffet, and ate 2 plates worth of vegetables and a slice of a pear. Big sweet tea. Had a Sprite at home, half a F2O, and that's it so far. But am very hungry, and thinking about some ice cream or a cup of pudding.
Vic: O GODDAMMIT EM! WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE SAME CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THIS AS LAST TIME!!!! DITCH THE NU-WAY AND THE SWEET TEA!
Em: WELL, HELL - WE'VE BEEN HAVING THE SAME CONVERSATIONS ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND THE DDD FOR 3 YEARS NOW, AND I DON'T SEE THAT CHANGING ANYTHING!
Vic: Well, let's look at that statement....you, Nu way and sweet tea--all down the line. Me: wrote 600 pages... Hmmm.
Em: Hey, I worked for 4 hours, and did housework, and cared for 3 other people. We are even. (Although 600 pages is very, very, very impressive.
Vic: Well, yes, I was not denigrating your work ethic at all...simply saying that you haven't really done the "work" when it comes to changing your diet and exercise habits--whereas I've actually written the equivalent of 3 books---NOT mind you that its done me a damn bit of good....
Em: I have one word for you: Rut. Different state, same rut. As for me, it's the same: Rut. Different lifestyle, as I am now part of a couple rather than a single, but the issues are the same: organize, structure, diet. Rut.
Em: And meanwhile, I was congratulating myself on having a tiny little biscuit and a small tea, since I usually get a medium which is anybody else's large. . .
ljrad70 (6/10/2006 10:10:31 PM): Not to bad today, but you need to work in more lean protein, more complex carbs, more fruit and veggies. Less sugar. Less refined processed food. Bottom line.
Vic: [Back to the ice cream or pudding tangent] So start buying sugar free ice cream and pudding. Lemme tell you there is this fabulous brand of ice cream that does great lo fat and sugar free ---here they call it Dreyers but back up North it was Edy's--I think it's Edy's in GA
Em: WE have Edy's here. Actually, I'm not really an ice cream person, but it's the only appetizing thing I can think of in the fridge at the moment that doesn't involve work.
Vic: OMG! Try Edy's triple choc. sugar free---wonnnnnderful cocoa-y chocolate flavah (not too sickly sweet), with choc. chips and choc. sauce....mmmmm.
Em: Did I mention that Mom has gone on insulin shots?
Vic: Uh oh...yeah, I think so.
Vic: okay--my breakfast----
Vic: Breakfast burrito: habanero and monterey jack chicken sausage sauteed up with onion, green pepper, mushrooms, served on lo carb tortilla; nonfat vanilla yogurt, 1/2 grapefruit with strawberries, coffee with splenda and French Vanilla soy creamer. vitamins.
Vic: Lunch--after working outside almost to the point of passing out, did not feel like making anything. Sent Himself to Mickey D's for one of those fab Asian Chicken Salads...I recommend.
Em: BD hates salad. . . one of his few failings.
Em: I prefer Wendy's Mandarin Chicken, as I despise McD's. Same stuff, different day, though.
Em: My goodness, what a diverse diet. I promise, we need to food blog - it'll be big fun.
Em: Your nuts and berries v. my sugar and starches.
Vic: mebbe we can work it in...or start a new one...maybe you?
Em: Your burrito reminds me of the scrambled eggs I made BD last night in an effort to dissuade him from ordering steak . . . in real butter, I sauteed onion and green peppers until tender, then threw in eggs, milk and tiny bits of ham.
Em: And 7 eggs. . . I shudder to imagine his cholesterol.
Vic: Yep, them egg scramble things are good---and done right good for you. Slip him some egg-beaters for a scramle with those ingredients or an omelet...
Vic: Okay, so dinner: Salmon fillets in dill sauce (frozen, but v. good), sweet potato fries (also frozen and v. good) liberally sprinkled with cajun spice and mah own coleslaw (ie. bag o' slaw with a low-fat poppy-seed dressing and dill from my garden. Oh, and for dessert Dreyer's Triple Choc.
Em): Sounds yummy. . . and not hard.
Vic: Found these great frozen tilapia fillets at Wally-mart (sometimes) and at HEB--local grocery, I'm figgering they are widely distributed. They are two frozen fillets in box, but with really great sauces--roasted pepper (not spicy) and adobo (spicy)--they also have a dill sauce too. But then I also like to throw salmon steaks on barbie---
Vic: the barbie, not The Barbie---WAHAHAHAHAAHA!
Em: Hah! I'll betcha Ken throws steaks on Barbie when the lights go off at Wally-Mart!
Vic: nah, she dumped him remember? She's with Blaine, the surfer dude now, and I'm sure they are both picking sand out of their privates when the lights go back on...
Em: Is there any way to put this in the blog? Would make for interesting reading, at least.
DONE

Hey - you missed out editing one of your email addys right after I was congratulating myself on having a small sweet tea rather than a large one. . .
I do love reading us. . . I think we are hoots.
Especially when we yell at each other.
